Arrest of Wanted Male in Leigh Town Centre

The Leigh Town Centre Policing Team were today alerted to the whereabouts of a 33-year-old male who was wanted by police on recall to prison, as well as in connection with a recent shoplifting offence.

An officer located the male as he was making his way out of town. However, the individual made it very clear that he did not wish to return to prison and chose to resist the officer. A brief struggle followed, during which both ended up on the floor, leaving the officer with minor cuts, bruises, and a dented pride.

Additional officers quickly arrived to assist, and the male was subsequently arrested for:

Shoplifting costs local businesses tens of thousands of pounds each year, losses which ultimately fall back on consumers.

With this arrest, at least one shoplifter will be giving our local stores a break for the next few months.
